Short answer: AI takeoff software reads your PDF plan set and counts materials automatically. ReadMyBlueprint does this for wall trades: upload a CAD-exported PDF and get studs, track, drywall sheets, insulation and CMU block back in minutes, each number traced to the wall it came from. It costs $49 per plan set with no subscription, and your first plan set is free.
Updated October 2026
Manual digital takeoff means clicking every wall, corner and opening on a PDF. AI takeoff does the measuring pass for you, and you spend your time checking the result instead of producing it.

New since the September version of this page, from our own test runs and release log.
Full dated list: changelog.
AI takeoff software reads a digital plan set and measures or counts quantities automatically, instead of an estimator clicking every wall and corner by hand. You review the result, fix what it flagged, and export the quantities into your bid.
It reads the vector geometry inside a CAD-exported PDF, measures every wall, and matches each wall to the plan's own wall-type legend. It then returns studs, track, drywall sheets, insulation and CMU block, with every quantity labeled matched, ambiguous or needs-confirmation.
As of September 2026, Togal.AI lists $299 per user per month billed yearly (about $3,588 a year). ReadMyBlueprint is $49 per plan set with no subscription, $199 a month for 10 plan sets, and your first plan set is free.
It depends on the plan set. A good AI takeoff tool should show you which numbers it is sure of and which it guessed. ReadMyBlueprint never folds a guess into your total: anything it can't match to a spec on your drawings is flagged for you to confirm. On three public Missouri bid sets we tested on Oct 7, auto-match was close to 0%, so those results had to be finished by hand.
ReadMyBlueprint does not. It needs vector PDFs exported from CAD or Revit. On a scanned page it tells you it can't measure it instead of guessing.
Your first plan set is free. No sales call, no subscription, nothing to install.
