ReadMyBlueprint vs. PlanSwift & Buildxact

PlanSwift is a manual digitizer-style takeoff tool — you click every wall, door, and fixture yourself. Buildxact bundles estimating with job and project management. Neither one reads your plan set for you. Here's an honest look at where each actually fits.

The short version

Manual clicking vs. automated reading.

PlanSwift's core workflow is still you, tracing walls and counting fixtures by hand on-screen — it's faster than a paper takeoff, but every measurement is still a manual click. Buildxact adds estimating, scheduling, and client-facing quoting on top of a similar manual-takeoff core, priced for small builders running a full job pipeline, not just a takeoff. ReadMyBlueprint skips the manual tracing step entirely: it reads the real vector geometry and legends already embedded in your PDF and hands you a labeled material count.

What we won't claim: we haven't run a side-by-side benchmark against either platform, and we're not going to tell you our numbers are universally "more accurate" than a careful manual takeoff — a human tracing every wall by hand can be exactly as accurate as any tool, just slower. What we can tell you is exactly how our own numbers are produced: real calibrated geometry, labeled matched/ambiguous/needs-confirmation, never a silent guess. Frequently asked questions

How is ReadMyBlueprint different from PlanSwift and Buildxact?

ReadMyBlueprint is built for wall-trade takeoff: it counts studs, track, drywall sheets, insulation and CMU block from the plan's own geometry and wall-type legend, and labels each result matched, ambiguous or needs confirmation. PlanSwift is a manual-takeoff tool and Buildxact is a quote-based estimating platform; ReadMyBlueprint does the counting pass automatically for wall trades.

Is there proof ReadMyBlueprint works on a real plan set?

On our Freeport Square test set (21 pages), 68.9% of walls auto-matched and 99.8% resolved after one "Confirm all". That is one test set, and anything uncertain is flagged for you to confirm. Your first plan set is free, no card needed.
