Plasterboard takeoff software: board counts from digital plans
Plasterboard and drywall are the same material with two names. If you price plasterboard or gypsum board linings, the takeoff is the same job: wall lengths by wall type, times heights, times layers per side, then sheets and waste.
ReadMyBlueprint does that first pass for you from a digital plan set.
What the takeoff gives you
- Wall lengths by wall type, matched to the plan's wall type legend.
- Sheet counts you can trace back to each wall, using the board layers shown on your wall type legend.
- Stud and track quantities for metal-framed partitions, plus insulation where the wall type calls for it.
- CSV and Excel export so the quantities go straight into your pricing sheet.
Every number is traced back to the drawing or flagged for you to confirm. See confidence labels.
What it needs from you
A digital plan set: a PDF exported from AutoCAD, Revit or similar design software. It does not read scanned or photographed drawings. See vector vs. scanned PDFs if you're not sure which you have.
Quantities are in US units (feet and square feet). If you price in metric, convert in your spreadsheet after export.
Where it fits
It's an assisted takeoff. It gets the wall-by-wall counting done fast; you confirm the flagged walls, add your waste, and own the final number. Anything it doesn't detect you can add with a click on the drawing, in the same takeoff.
FAQ
Is plasterboard takeoff the same as drywall takeoff?
Yes. Plasterboard, drywall and gypsum board are the same material. The takeoff measures wall lengths by wall type, multiplies by height and layers, and converts area to sheets.
Can plasterboard takeoff software read scanned drawings?
ReadMyBlueprint needs a digital PDF exported from design software such as AutoCAD or Revit. It does not read scanned or photographed plans.
Does ReadMyBlueprint work in metric?
Quantities are reported in US units (feet and square feet). Export to CSV or Excel and convert there if you price in metric.
